Progressive Autism Informational Site
I added a new link to my every bludgeoning list (hmmm that's sounds almost brutal, maybe ever 'blooming' is kinder). It's Progressive Autism dot com and seems to have some very useful information on autism. Here's some of what the blog creator has to say in his "bio"...

The Funniest Woman On The WWW!
I'm woefully behind in my blog reading.
I got kind of down after Cody died and should of made the rounds to cheer myself up, but just couldn't work up the energy.
Yesterday I decided to catch up.

Happy 2nd Birthday To TexasGoodies! Yea!
Two years ago today! Yea!
This is the 345 post except for the handful that didn't make it for one reason or another.
It's been fun. It'll keep on being fun too.
For the most part it's an extension of my old BBS Sysoping days, but without the chat mode. I always hated the chat mode anyway and almost never answered the call for one. For the same reason now I don't use IM or any of the other real time chat vehicles. When I'm in front of the computer it's because I don't want to interact with anyone else!
Thanks for reading this blog! Even those of you that just googled in by mistake, go UCK and dash back out the door.....at least you Googled something to get here and that's cool!
As usual, thanks to Blogger for the FREE SPACE and cool software! I literally couldn't do it without you, Blogger!

Re: Umm...Blogger?...Do We have a Problem?
This is so good! You tell 'em, Claus! And while you're at it, ask why I have to logon constantly! If I want to add a comment somewhere, if I want to post here.....it gets old real fast! This is my computer, being used in my home, cookies from Blogger/Google/etc. are all welcome....I click the "remember me" thing and STILL it acts like its never seen me before.... gripe, gripe, gripe.... add that to the fact that their letters and numbers I'm asked to reproduce in order to comment leave a LOT to be desired in the way they are presented. Irritates the living piss out of me to have to keep typing new arrangements because I can't tell if that's a "t" or "1" or "l" or "e" or "3" or something that's totally made-up just to confuse me!
I guess the bottom line is still that it's all free. It's me that has the problem.

The New And Improved TexasGoodies!
Well, okay, maybe not new, but hopefully improved! I like the new template and I think it's easier on the eyes to read.
I've almost got 300 blathering posts in the past couple of years via the blogasphere so I'm thinking this isn't just a whim, it's here to stay! It's permanent, or as permanent as anything in life can be, so why not spiff it up? Spiffy is good for the soul....it's like moving furniture around....sometimes a gals got to do what a gals got to do! You get tired of looking at the same old, same old (hmmm which is probably why people can't stay married any more!).....but, as usual, I digress....

And thanks again to Blogger for the free space and almost 100% up-time all the time! The new Blogger is vastly improved and changing templates was slicker than owl poop! It just doesn't get any better than slick owl poop.....trust me on that one!

Where's My Dadgum Dots?
Is it just me or did my green dots just disappear overnight?
I've been thinking about biting the bullet and trying out a new template or one of the "easy" drop and drag customizations, but I didn't want to go to a lot of trouble. However if my dots took a dive then rather than try and "fix" the existing template I guess I'll just have to make some changes.
I'll pop the hood tomorrow and take a look-see......if you don't see me back up lookin' spiffy in a day or so send HELP!

I Missed My Own Anniversary!
I just bothered to look it up and TexasGoodies has been online a whole year and I didn't even mention it even in passing! Wow, a whole year. Ha! And they said it wouldn't last!
Well, ok, no one said it wouldn't last because frankly no one gave it that much thought if they even knew it was in the offering.
My pal Rick introduced me to his blog and I saw how easy and FREE it was to get one and the rest is, as they say, hysterical history! I'm having fun with it and that was the reason for giving birth to it in the first place. Well, ok, that and the FREE part. AND it's so much easier than trying to keep up with that tiny little diary key.
I've made some friends along the way. People with cool blogs too like Laniey's Grapevine Connection; Attila the Mom's observations at Cheaper Than Therapy; Jack over at Texas Music who says there's "Cops. Guns. Drugs. No happy endings.", but he is so talented a writer it seems like fun most of the time just to drop in and see what's going on with him; the same can be said for Jason at Cigars...Donuts...and Coffee. My favorite sports blog is Richard Justice's SportsJustice. I agree with him about 99.9% of the time. I also keep an eye on TechBlog, but of late it's frankly B-O-R-I-N-G. Mr. Silverman's becoming an out-of-the-closet Apple owner is changing the flavor of his what used to be Windows based blogging. (If there's anything worse than a reformed smoker it's a newly converted Applehead!). He's also getting into "business news" and that's not cool to me. He ought to sign on Claus to do some of the Windows-based PC writing! I still like reading the good stuff at Ed Bott's, Jay Lee's and Eric Berger, the SciGuy. I try and keep up with dozens of others, but these are my mainstays.
I do think that blogging has changed life as we know it forever. It's the best way to get news. It's faster than a speeding bullet and twice as powerful a tool. Hell, it's like Rock 'n Roll, it'll never die! Rock on!

Can't Bitch When It's Free
Blogger.com has been experiencing technical difficulties. Or something. I've been trying to upload some pictures for a couple of days and it no workie.
The good part is I've saved what I was working on as a "draft". The bad part is I can't seem to get the dratted "draft" launched. That's makes for a daffy draft and one dilly of a dilemma. Dadgumit.
The bad part is I've developed the galloping crud that's currently making the rounds. I'm down to my last box of Kleenex and getting thin in the soup and crackers department too. My youngest is going to make a cracker run this evening....the plan being she'll leave the Ritz on the trunk of my car in exchange for her mail. What a deal! I could go to the store, I'm not dying or anything, but why not wait a day or two and let the germs settle. (I see the germs as snowglobe particles that get shaken and move about freely when you turn yourself upside down or otherwise discombobulate anywhere outside of the couch, the bed or the recliner and then they settle back down when you keep on a level keel. I might be right too, what do the scientists know!). I've got a massage booked for tomorrow and I'm hoping the deep tissue action will push any remaining germs out through my skin pores. AGAIN, why not, what do the doctors know anyway?
Back to my Blogger concerns: the bottom line is one can't bitch about service with it's FREE. I think that's only fair. So I'll waiting and sniffing and napping and crouping and soup slurping and cracker crunching and generally being a patient patient. Being patient is not in my nature so it's a testament to the keelhauling effects of this crud. I am having a good time putting words together so all is not for naught. I like the way that works.

Google ME!
Just how the heck many Google sites are there anyway? Let me count the strays….
Dwight Silverman just pointed out the newest one, Google Base. “Google Base is a place where you can add all types of information that we'll host and make searchable online.”
Then there’s regular vanilla Google. Which to me is like always having white bread in the pantry.
Next up is Froggle and Google Local. (Are we sensing a theme here?) I wonder what they’d call an adult only search engine. Nope, I’m not touching that one with a ten foot you-know-what! I’m a good girl, I am.
Moving onward to my personal favorites…. Images….and Groups. Closely followed by News, which I have to say I’ve never been to until just now to snare their link. I get most all of my news from my Earthlink home page and the Houston Chronicle online.
Then there’s Webs, which I’m not at all sure what that searches. Can you say ‘redundant’? I knew you could.
OHMYGOD! I just clicked on MORE! Google has more links than you can shake a stick at! Truly you could find your own ass in the dark with a handy Google link! I’m not even going to attempt to list them all! I’m old and not might have that much time left!! Although I did always think they would find me slumped over either my computer (the Commodore 64 – you know – waiting for it to load a program!) or the washing machine.
Well, suffice to say, my brain has been BOGGLED at the expansive Google empire! I’m not entirely kidding about the adult only aspects either…..

Three percent of online U.S. seniors have created a blog and 17 percent have read someone else's blog, according to the Pew Internet & American Life Project. Compare that with online 18- to 29-year-olds: Thirteen percent have created blogs and 32 percent have read someone else's blog, according to Pew.
Imagine that....3%...I've never been up-to-date or in-style in my whole life! Usually by the time I get on board it's passe! Like the man said though, it's cool to be able to say whatever you like and get it off your chest if it's on your mind!

Does That Make Me The Oldest Now?
I saw this in today Houston Chronicle: "A Dutchwoman, the world's oldest person on record who swore by a daily helping of herring for a healthy life, died today aged 115".
Does her death make me the oldest living person now?! Will my obit say something like 'she lived to a ripe old age and she swore by a daily helping of HoHos and diet soda"?
It is pretty cool that she made it to 115 and could still swear. I think I'll down a diet Pepsi in her memory.

Very cool .... it's a how-to for blogging. It's just the sort of blog info I was hoping to find.
Here's a sample that I wholeheartedly agree with:
Kevin Whited of blogHOUSTON offers his five tips for bloggers:
1) Write on a topic you care about (whether it's your personal diary, or about politics, or about a hobby, or about some niche topic).
2) Use standard English (check your spelling, use proper grammar, use proper punctuation). If it's hard for the average reader to read, why would he bother? And if you don't want readers, why would YOU bother?

Getting Old in A Young World
I looked around today at some of the other blogs and discovered I'm probably the oldest female here. Sigh. I don't know why I don't just fess up to the year of my birth too. I'm not exactly ashamed of my age. I can't help it if I'm relatively computer literate and hangin' with the kiddies. I'm proud of being slumped over a keyboard rather than molding somewhere in a rocking chair and wearing a shawl.
I did just read one young lady's blog and she's only 21 years old. She wrote eloquently about interviewing World War II service people and it was touching as hell to read what she wrote. It cheered me to think that someone of her tender years was out talking to the old soldiers and not just hanging with her friends and getting high or worried about what she was going to wear next. In fact, I'm so impressed I'm going to open another tab and go find out what the link is to her blog so I can show y'all what I'm impressed with. (Obviously bad grammar does not disipate just because one has been on the planet over 60 years!)......here it is.... her name is Zettie

Pet Peeve #1
Does anyone even say 'pet peeves' anymore?
Call me old-fashioned if you must, but people that write their blogs without using capital letters where appropriate and punctuation annoy me.
It's a shame because some of their prose would be more entertaining if it were easier to read.

Rocket Science, Part I
This is a test of the babble ability of TexasGoodies. Had this been a real blog you would of been instructed to.....WAIT!... who am I kidding? I can sling blog babble baloney with the best of 'em. Welcome to my rut! I know, as ruts go, it doesn't look like much, but give me some time. Once I hang some curtains and put a picture or two on the walls, you'll be more comfortable. Heck, I'll be more comfortable! It's not like this is rocket science or brain surgery.
